A new puppy is a joy to have but bringing up a puppy to be a well adjusted,
'take anywhere' dog can be a challenge, especially if you have not done it
before or it has been a few years. I will come and advise on all aspects
of puppy ownership including housetraining, teaching good manners, nutrition,
avoiding common mistakes and
how to prevent behaviour problems, and answer any questions you may have - no
matter how
daft they may seem. Most puppy consultations will last 2-3
hours and include an information pack; full of useful information, articles,
contact numbers and usually a freebie! Got two puppies? Don't panic,
double trouble does not mean double bubble, the cost of the consultation remains
the same - just double
the fun for me! Consultations start at £90 and are available all over
Northern Ireland.
I can also help you choose the right breed, or even come with you and help you choose the right puppy for your family from the litter.
Taking in a rescue dog can be extremely rewarding,
but it can also be a nightmare - especially if you don't know what you are
doing. Many rescue dogs are returned to the rescue centre within a few
days simply because either the wrong dog was chosen for the family or because of
common mistakes that could have been avoided. I can help, whether you need someone to help you choose a
dog that is right for your family or help settling him in. I can assess
your new rescue dog for potential behaviour problems and show you how to settle
him in, solve and prevent behavioural problems and get him housetrained.
Consultations start at just £90.00 and you will also receive a full assessment
of your dogs personality which will tell you what makes him tick and may even
give you an insight into what his previous home was like, these consultations
are available all over Northern Ireland.

I offer a 10 week programme which is designed to help you teach your dog basic obedience commands using a clicker. The programme will guide you through the training process, starting with an introduction to the clicker and advice on what treats to use. It will show you how to train your dog certain commands such as a recall, sit, down, walk to heel and give a paw. It will also give you the confidence to attempt more advanced training on your own after the programme is ended. After each session the handler will be given a worksheet (homework) which should be completed each week to ensure the best results, this will consist of practising what has been learnt during the session and previous sessions.
The cost of this 10 week programme is £200.00 for the first dog and £100.00 for a second dog.
Top Tip - start your own class
in your own back garden. If you have friends or family that would like to
attend a class but can't find a suitable place, I can arrange a class for you
all in the privacy of your own back garden. I will take on classes of 5 or 6
dogs and will travel to most areas of Northern Ireland,
click here to find out if I come to your area. The 10 week course
costs only £125 per dog (based on 5 dogs attending, fewer dogs will
increase the cost per dog), and must be paid in full on or before the first
session (cheques must have cleared in advance of the first session).
Sessions must be booked in advance and no refund is available for cancellations.
Private (one on one) obedience training is currently only available in certain areas, click here to check if I can come to you. The programme must be paid in full on or before the first session (cheques must have cleared in advance of the first session). There is no refund available for customer cancellations.
Be sure to address any behaviour problems your dog may have before you start obedience training as these will hinder your progress and will unlikely be solved by obedience training alone. If you are unsure whether you need obedience training or behaviour advice please give me a call.
If you are interested in Private Obedience Training, please contact me via e-mail or phone.
Walking a dog should be a pleasure, but for so many it is a painful chore; the
dog pulls so hard your shoulder aches, you are frustrated and angry, you want to
let him off the lead but you just know you will never get him back - sound familiar?
This session is designed to teach you how to walk your dog so that you can finally start to enjoy it. It will last approximately two hours and by the end of it you will know how to walk your dog to heel, what equipment is best for your dog and how to teach a good recall to your dog - most dogs are walking to heel by the end of the session. This service costs just £60. If your dog is aggressive when on a walk, I can still help but you will need to book a behaviour consultation instead. This service is not available in all areas, click here to find if your area is included. To book a dog walking lesson, click here.
From toilet training and chewing, anxiety, fear and
aggression to unwanted barking and hyperactivity I have seen it all!
I will give you straight forward advice that is
practical for you and your individual circumstances. By treating the cause
of the behaviour rather than the symptom alone you will have a happy and relaxed
dog in no time who will not feel the need to miss-behave.
I not only offer behaviour counselling, I can also help you with your new rescue dog or puppy, I can help you prepare your dog for the arrival of a new baby, I offer private obedience training and special sessions designed to show you how to 'walk like a pack leader' and correct problems on a walk such as walking to heel and recall.
I will come to you anywhere in Northern Ireland for behaviour counselling, if you don't live in Northern Ireland I can still help, fill out an booking form and I will get back to you with some suggestions and a quote, my furthest customer to date lived in Arizona!
I never use harsh punishments or corrective methods, not only is it cruel to do so, it is also dangerous and unproductive. The key to good behaviour is good communication, and all the methods I use are intended to improve the relationship between dog and owner without using fear. If your dog has behaviour problems then you need an experienced canine behaviourist and dog trainer.
If your dog has behaviour problems, don't panic there is hope, most behaviour problems can be easily corrected with the right advice.
I work with dogs of all breeds and ages and all types of behaviour problem including house soiling, poor lead discipline, aggression and all others in between. Once you have decided that you need help with your dog simply get in touch and make an appointment.
When I come to visit you and your dog(s) I will want to see the dogs behaviour at it's worst, don't worry I've seen it all before and worse - probably! If you think your dog will bite me, then please muzzle him before I come, this allows him to behave naturally when I arrive without any risk of injury - don't worry he won't be wearing it for long. If you are not sure whether to muzzle or not then ask me when we arrange your appointment. I always prefer to see the dog at his home as I will be able to see exactly what the dog is normally doing without the distractions of a new environment and will be able to determine why he is doing it. I will then consider the best techniques to resolve the problems you are having, I will discuss these with you and will demonstrate them as much as possible to you. All my training methods are reward based, I never use punishment to train dogs.
After the session, I will write you a report based on what we have discussed which will include details of all the advice I have given you for you to refer back to. This report will be posted or e-mailed depending on your preference, usually within 7-10 days.
After all this you should be able to better communicate with your dog and should be enjoying a better relationship with you dog. Please call, text or e-mail me to let me know, I always want to hear when things go well. Go to my testimonials page to see what a few of my past clients have said.
2-in1 Dog Walking and Training Service
Let me do it all for you
In today's busy world, it is no wonder so many people have less and less time to walk and train their dogs. Until now you would need two separate people to do this for you at a double the expense, not any more. I will walk and train your dog at the same time - mental and physical stimulation for your dog - piece of mind and more free time for you.
Maybe you are no longer physically able to walk your dog but still enjoy the companionship a dog provides, let me walk your dog while you put your feet up and have a cuppa.
This service is available in the following postcode areas: BT16, Bt18, Bt19, Bt20, Bt21, Bt22 and Bt23.
2-in-1 Dog Walking and Training cost only £20 per hour and is totally flexible to meet your needs. Whether you need someone to walk your dog for 2 hours a day, 3 times a week or just once a month it's up to.
Don't need a dog walker? No problem I can come and work with your dog to fix any behaviour problems he has, you decide how many hours a day or week or whether you just want a one off session.
I am an experienced canine behaviourist and dog trainer and have worked with dogs of all breeds and sizes, I worked at Assisi Animal Sanctuary for a year before I got so busy that I had to give it up to focus on this business, although I can still be seen helping out at Assisi from time to time. I use only positive training methods and communication based methods and NEVER use harsh punishments.

FAQ's
Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions, if your query is not here then please include it on the enquiry form or ask me when I call.
What other services do you offer?
I can help you with any behaviour problem, I can also advise you on your newly adopted rescue dog or puppy, and even help you choose the right dog for you. I also offer special sessions dedicated only to teaching you how to get the best out of your dog while on a walk and a new 2-in-1 dog walking and training service. Click here for more information.
I have had behaviourists out before and their advice didn't work, how do I know yours will?
All dogs are different and respond to training in different ways, what works brilliantly for one may not work at all for another, I have studied many different techniques and when I assess your dog I will show you the right one for you both. Let me be the last behaviourist you have to see. Take a look at what some of my previous clients have said about the service they received, click here.
How long will it take?
Sessions vary in length and it really depends on the problem(s) you are having. Most sessions last between 2-3 hours.
Will I have to come to you?
No. I always prefer to visit the dog in his own home. He will behave more naturally there, if he needs training while on a walk then we will meet at your home and will take him out to where he is normally walked, or if he is badly behaved in kennels then we can arrange to see him there too.
Consultations start at £90 and depending on where where you live will increase to a maximum of £150. Most addresses are only £90 including Belfast, Lisburn, the Ards Peninsula, Banbridge, Antrim and many more. Click here to find out how much a behaviour consultation will cost you, don't forget the cost will include my time and expertise, travel, unlimited after care over the phone, text or e-mail and a written report on your dogs behaviour and the advice I have given - so you don't even need to take notes!
Will I need more than one session?
Most problems can be dealt with within one session, however sometimes more than one session is required, particularly in the case of an aggressive dog or more complex behaviour problems.
My dog is really aggressive, will you still be able to help?
I am always happy to work with aggressive dogs, no matter how bad they are and am pleased to say that I have always had excellent results.
What if the advice you give me does not work?
Hopefully, you will have seen positive results before I left. If you are still having problems then give me a call and I can arrange to come back and show you again or demonstrate a different technique. I will not give up on your dog.
Do you come out at weekends?
Yes, I have appointment times available in the mornings, afternoons and at weekends.
How do I get in touch to arrange an appointment?
The best way is to fill out a booking form, it will only take a couple of moments, or take a look at my contact information page for more ideas. Once I have received your booking form I will be in touch with confirmation of your booking usually within a couple of hours.
Do you work with any type of dog?
I will help with all breeds, ages and sizes. However, I cannot help if your breed of dog is an illegal breed in this country.
